Each month the global FITCH Must See team explore the best in brand experiences. In February, UX Designer Dan Baczynski reviews how Bottletop is using its overarching brand vision to inform its retail experience in London’s Regent Street.
Bottletop uses design to empower people and support the sustainable use of our planet’s resources. This ethical handbag brand has opened a store on Regent Street in London to showcase its future-focused thinking and vision.
Not only are the products made out of upcycled materials such as ring pulls, but this is also the world’s first zero-waste store.
Wall panels have been produced thanks to 3D printing technology. The materials for this actually came from recycled plastic before being transformed into filaments to be printed, giving supports to display the handmade bags.
Using the same technology, the 3D printed ceiling structure supports hundreds of cans which forms a unique organic shape which then attracts and wows shoppers. Even the rubber floor is made up of recycled vehicle tyres.
On top of the material sourcing, the brand has a dedication to social impact that goes beyond the production process, as they create employment opportunities in developing countries and empower local artisans across the world. Everything the brand does is committed to make a better future, engaging with its audience who will support and embrace the Bottletop vision of supporting educational and vocational projects.
In this store, shoppers can listen to atmospheric music made by ‘the Bottletop Band’, a group of artists from diverse soundscape, created to support The Bottletop Foundation.
The Bottletop store was already ahead of its time when it first opened at the end of 2017. Two years after, its atmosphere and design stays true to the brand’s futuristic identity. As brands become more conscious of their social responsibilities, this store demonstrates how a brand can be truly dedicated to a sustainable vision.
Bottletop is an extraordinary brand that will surely become the ordinary in the near future.
